Recent News

The Midwest Region Organizing Committee developed a relief/rebuild Joplin Missouri plan. EMLDC organizers Carl Baysinger, Mike Boyland, Barry Brown, Scott Brown, Rick Griffin Sr., Rodney Lashley, and Nick Pavia joined over 50 laborers from across the Midwest Region to assist fellow laborers affected by the tornado that hit Joplin on May 22, 2011. Fred Weber, Inc. donated the use of a bobcat and mini-excavator for the project.

The organizers were there from June 9 through June 11. They helped clear the debris from the homes of five laborers; one retired and four active, one of which was an apprentice. They also helped clear a playground that was affected.

Annual Events

The Eastern Missouri Laborers' District Council sponsors several events throughout the year that benefit members and that benefit charitable organizations.

Each year, the Council offers one $1,500 scholarship to one member’s child from each of our 11 Locals. The guidelines and application form is available here or at your Local Union’s office.

The first Friday of June each year, the EMLDC holds a Charity Golf tournament. The proceeds are distributed to charities throughout the year.

The EMLDC, in conjunction with LECET, also holds five Members’ Events each year. There is a spring and summer archery tournament, as well as a golf tournament, a crappie tournament, and a sporting clay tournament.

Voting is one of the most important things you can do as a Union member. You can't vote if you’re not registered to vote. Politics impact every aspect of your private and public life. Prevailing wage, Right-to-Work for less, protections in the workplace and even your ability to collectively bargain can be impacted by election results.
